Troll Hunters 2 by Play'n Go is a sequel to the successful Norse mythology-themed slot from 2013.
The aesthetic of part two is very close to the original but with more polished 3D artwork. In the heart of the story, we have three fearless hunters, Ylva, Borghild and Astrid, trying to protect their village from a vicious troll. The three mighty warriors are also HP symbols, while lower value symbols are a hammer, axe, horn, sword and a horn. The soundtrack is very majestic and works perfectly with the gameplay, adding to suspense and excitement.
Troll Hunters 2 is a high volatility slot with an RTP of 96.5% and the max potential payout of 5,000x.
The action unfolds on the 5x5 grid, where the goal is to match three or more symbols horizontally or vertically. Lower paying symbols must match identically, but the character symbols can team up in any combo of three+ to score you a win. The winning symbols disappear from the grid, and those above them fall into their place. For every additional win during a round, the Multiplier raises by one. Once the round is over, the Drop Multiplier resets. Every time you match three of the symbols, a Standard Wild appears in their place.
Next to the reels, there is a Meter that fills up whenever match high paying symbols. Wins with 3, 4, or 5 HP symbols, fill up 1, 2, or 3 sections of the Meter. When filled, you get awarded with randomly placed Multiplier Wilds. The character besides the grid dictates the value of Wilds; Astrid will award Standard Wilds, Borghild x2 Multiplier Wilds, and dark-haired Ylva will grant x3 Multiplier Wilds.
Sheltered behind the symbols is the "Bonus" row, and revealing it leads you straight to the Free Spins feature. You get to choose a Hunter to help, each one presenting a different combo of the number of free spins and Multiplier Wilds. In the FS round, filling the Meter awards a free Win Spin, where a 2x2 Troll Wild comes into play and randomly gets placed on the grid. Filling the Meter during the Win Spin will re-trigger the feature.
If you liked the original, you are likely to enjoy the sequel. Not much has changed, other than sleeker graphics, and upped potential and volatility. In case you're coming in with the fresh eyes, you will find a solid slot with a nice mix of features enveloped into a well-done fantasy theme.
